Description of Assessment Task and Purpose:
Your task is a 1,500 word individual critical individual reflection (50% of overall module mark).
Critical Reflection
You should reflect on a time when you have participated in a group/team project, decision, event. You should use THEORY covered on the module to examine YOUR role in this group/team event. You should evaluate the effectiveness of the group/team project, decision, event and consider the following questions:
i) What was the context? Describe the project, decision, event – (eg what were the objectives, how important was it, who were the stakeholders, what was the timescale, what resources did you have etc)
ii) What was your role in the project, decision, event (eg leader, follower, bystander, disruptor etc) and how effective were you?
iii) What leadership skills and behaviours were demonstrated (by you and/or others) and how effective was the leadership (did you achieve the result you expected)?
iv) How would you evaluate the team/group dynamics – was it a high performing work team – if so why/ if not why not? Was there any conflict if so how was this managed? How did the team communicate/make decisions?
v) What can you learn from this experience and what will you take forward to other group/team situations (eg what are your key leadership/follower skills, do you have any development needs which you need to focus on)?
vi) You should include as an appendix (ie not in word count) a personal development plan (no more than 1 page A4 font size 12) showing how you will develop your leadership skills over the next 12 months.
NB Use theory to critically explore your own experience of leadership/followership in your project/decision/. This is critical reflection not description. You should include a reference list (not included in word count).
Please feel free to use first person (‘I’, ‘my’, ‘we ‘our’ etc in this section).
